Kasparov
Kasparov started his DJing days back at school in the early 90’s putting on debauched techno/jungle parties for his fellow classmates at no other than Really Wild Show host Terry Nutkins’ pub The Pelican, in little known Froxfield, Wiltshire.
He eventually made the move to Bristol in ‘97, where he waisted no time securing residencies at a number of Bristol’s favorite nightspots. (one or two of which he still holds to this day!)
Following that, a four year stint at the now deceased Replay Records store opened his eyes, or should we say ears, to a wide range of music and helped to develop the eclectic style he is known for today. Over the years many other residencies and guest slots followed giving him the opportunity to play alongside some of the best DJ’s & musicians around, spanning Hip Hop and Jungle to House and Breakbeat. we could name drop here, but that would
just be a bit gay…Alongside his Replay cohorts under the guise We Don’t Play, Kasparov has also enjoyed a Pussy Parlure/Spiegle Tent residency taking in summer festivals that include The Glade, Electric Picnic (Ireland), Echo Festival (Serbia) and Glastonbury (an unforgiving 15 hour marathon).
On week days Kasparov can be found masquerading as a full time Graphic Designer, music reviewer and interviewer at west country music & lifestyle publication Out of Hand Magazine, whilst weekends are often spent cutting, spinning and fumbling his way through boxes of beats and generally getting basic at many of Bristol’s favorite nightspots. Which brings us to
Buoyancy…
With us from the start, Kasparov has been entertaining friends and family alike with a wide range of styles and has helped keep the good people of Buoyancy on their toes for the last few years.
Describing his style as a mixed bag, taking in Hip Hop, Funk, Soul, Reggae, House, Breakbeat, Rock and Jungle, similar to that of the Nextmen, the Unabombers and Solid Steel, he is a fine choice alongside Cocoa Eskimo to host our 2nd room antics. Expect the unexpected from this pair next time you visit Buoyancy…
For the future..? Look out for a production pairing with our very own JG Alim for the project ‘Dirty Acid Disco Shit’ due out sometime in 2007. It promises to be some proper shit.
